The ODS Seal – Fundacim 2019 was developed to visually represent the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) within a single cohesive composition. The primary challenge was clear: the seal needed to incorporate the 17 official SDG colors, include the institutional elements (ODS, Fundacim, and the year 2019), and avoid the circular format already established by the UN and SESI.
Given this formal constraint, the solution emerged from observing how the SDGs are traditionally presented — as individual square modules. The pictogram was therefore built using quadrilateral forms, preserving the original visual language while reorganizing it into a distinct structural system.
To ensure balance and formal consistency, the construction was guided by the Golden Ratio. Four golden ratio structures positioned at 90 degrees informed the layout of the 17 colored elements. While the final composition conveys dynamism and apparent spontaneity, it is grounded in precise geometric organization.
The result is a seal that balances multiplicity and structure, offering a solution clearly distinct from circular systems while respecting the official chromatic standards.
For the visual identity, Gotham Bold was selected to reinforce institutional clarity and graphic presence. The full-color version performs best on light backgrounds, while a monochromatic version ensures flexibility across different applications. Supporting materials incorporate background planes derived from individual SDG colors, maintaining visual coherence and recognition.
This project represents a structured design exercise in organizing complexity — transforming an extensive color system into a contemporary, balanced, and institutionally solid visual identity.
